The royal wedding of the daughter of the Chassidic Munkacz Rabbi Spiro has had a sequel in a court action brought by the Fox Film Corporation of America, which had taken a film of the entire ceremony. It was announced that Rabbi Spiro received from the Fox Film Corporation the sum of a hundred thousand Czech kronen for his cooperation in the production of this film. This fact was utilized by Chassidic opponents as a weapon against the Rabbi, and a vigorous campaign was waged against him. Rabbi Spiro thereupon requested the film company to destroy the film in question. When they refused to do this, the Rabbi issued a ban, and forbade any Jew to go and see it. The film company thereupon brought an action against him, demanding that he either remove the ban or reimburse the very large sums which they claim to have expended upon the production of the film.
