Anti-jewish Disorders Continue in Vienna As Tension of Jews Eases

Download PDF for this date

Although the bomb attacks, which featured the outburst of Nazi disorders here this week, have ceased, anti-Jewish outrages are still continuing despite energetic efforts of the authorities to restore order. Austrian followers of Chancellor Hitler of Germany were continuing their anti-Jewish manifestations today with a series of attacks on Jewish shops, breaking windows and tearing down signs.

The panic of the Jewish population attendant on the bomb outrages, in which at least two people were killed and many injured, and the belief that the disorders marked a Nazi coup to gain control of the Austrian Government, has considerably abated. This is largely due to the obvious determination of the authorities to suppress the disorders and to protect the population. Reinforced police guards are patrolling the Jewish sections of the city to prevent further attacks.
