More than 13,000 men and women throughout the five boroughs comprising New York were extended non-interest bearing loans to the tune of almost a million dollars during the past fiscal year by the Hebrew Free Loan Society, the president of that organization, Julius J. Dukas, announced.
This association is one of the ninety-one component bodies of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies. In his report, Mr. Dukas pointed out that the society lost no more during the period of depression than it had in prosperous years, or no more than one-half of one percent of the sums loaned.
