Nettie Tobias, who died here Monday at the age of 60, was formerly one of the most talented and best-known actresses on the Yiddish stage. Madame Tobias, whose real name was Tabachnikoff, began her stage career in the chorus of the old Windsor Theatre on the Bowery. Advancement came when she won the admiration of critics and audience in a role which she played with only a few hours’ notice, as substitute for one of the leading actresses of the Windsor troupe.

Madame Tobias is survived by three children, two of whom are on the English stage.
