An urgent appeal for the relief of German shochtim who have been barred from the exercise of their profession has been issued to Jewish leaders and communities throughout the world by the provisional Committee for the Relief of Kosher Slaughterers in Germany. The committee’s statement reads:

“As a result of the prohibition of Kosher slaughtering in Germany, countless slaughterers are in terrible need. An urgent appeal is addressed to all Jewish leaders and communities to help alleviate this need by apprising the Committee for the Relief of Kosher Slaughterers of any vacant positions, so that German shochtim may, because of their peculiar circumstances, be aided in securing positions.”
