Myles Layman Farr Elliott, Palestine government advocate who on Saturday secured the conviction of three members of the Arab Executive in connection with the disorders in Jerusalem on October 13, was run down and severely injured by an automobile early Sunday morning. He was reported to have suffered fractures of both arms and legs.
At the hospital to which he was rushed following the accident, his condition was described as critical. Later it was said that he had shown improvement.
A Moslem Negro, driver of the car which struck Mr. Elliott, surrendered to the authorities this afternoon. The accident is believed to have been an ordinary hit and run affair.
Mr. Elliott, who is 43 years old, was appointed a government advocate in 1931 and for a time was Acting Solicitor General of Palestine. Before entering the Palestine service he had been a member of the political department in Iraq and had been in the military service.
