Egyptian Jews Grant Funds for Two Palestine Colonies for Refugees from Germany

As a result of the visit, to Egypt, of Dr. Arthur Ruppin, member of the executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, in the interest of the German relief campaign, the Jewish community in Alexandria granted 15,000 pounds, which had already been collected, for the establishment of a German Jewish colony. Fifty German Jewish families will be colonized on land belonging to the Jewish National fund in Wadi Hawarith.

The Cairo Jewish committee pledged the sum of 8,000 pounds for a German Jewish colony of the same size to be located in the vicinity of Petach Tikvah. The money, it was arranged, will be disbursed by the German department of the Jewish Agency. The work of establishing the colonies is to begin in February.
