“I an sure President Roosevelt would deplore the connection of such a person with the committee. The President is utterly opposed to any form of Nazi-ism in this country and would not tolerate the activities of Nazi propagandists in this contry He would be inclined to look with suspicion upon a person who is alleged to be a Nazi agent and who pretends to be concerned about the President’s anniversary.”

During the World War Byoir was assistant to George Creel.Later he helped ballyhoo Florida real estate for Henry L. Dougherty.Within recent years Byoir was the “right hand man” of ex-Presidnet Machado of Cuba; he edited the Havana Post and Teletgram, two Machado organs,whose principal function was to gloss over the seething revolt among the natives; as the Washington representative of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce he deluged the American public with Cuban eulogies.

At the offices of Carl Byoirand #tion,in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel,admitted that according to her understanding of Byoir’s business,he managed publicity accounts for German railways,the German American Chamber of Commerce,the Leipzig Trade Fair,and other German enterprises.

Frequent attempts to get in touch with Byoir having failed,Carl Dickey, business associate with Byoir, was called upon for information.

Dickey onfirmed the information that Byoir had been general director of the natinal committee in charge of publicity for the President’s birthday celebration,but he refused to reveal whether or not Byoir handled publicity for concerns or propects in Nazi Germay.
