Sunday school of the Temple Society of Concord observed Jewish Arbor Day and the New Year of the Trees by dedicating two trees in memory of Theodore Herzl.

Henry Pine, author of The Great Refusal, dealing with pioneer life in Palestine, described the observance of the holiday in the homeland.
