Introduce Bill to Give Gourse in Tolerance

A bill requiring the regents body of the University of the State of New York to prescribe courses of instruction in tolarance in the public schools of the state was introduced into the New York State Assembly by Assemblyman Albert D. Schanzer (Dem. Brokklyn) last week. The bill also provides that private schools of the state shall offer similar coursese of instruction.

“The purpose of the bill,” Assemblyman Schenzer said, ” is to inculcate in oud citizenry at an early and impressionable age a spirit of tolerance on the part of one individual for another. Children while still young should be taught that the character and integrity of each individual is all that counts; that social station, difference of ancestry and relegious belief, should not lead to prejudice or discrimination; that all people have good indentions, and that so long as they comply with the laws of the state and the country in which they live and reside, they are entitled to the courtesy and consideration of their fellows.”
