Rabbi Wolf Gold, leader of the Mizrachi in the United States, delivered the principal address yesterday at the semi-annual conference of the Mizrachi Women of America being held in two sessions in the Ocean Crest Hotel, Arverne, L. I.
Rabbi Gold outlined the progress made in membership drives and paid tribute to the activity of the women who, he said, have made possible the establishment of the technical school in Palestine, today a haven for many exiled German women.
Others who spoke were Mrs. Samuel Fasten, Rabbi Joseph Kestler, Mrs. Abraham Shapiro, national president of the organization, who recently returned from a tour of Germany, Mrs. Adela Goldstein, honorary president, and Mrs. D. H. Schnur, national treasurer. Attending were about 150 delegates from Mizrachi women units in Washington, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Mount Vernon.
SCHANZER HITS COURT REMOVAL
Assemblyman Albert D. Schanzer, president of the Brooklyn Jewish Big Brother and Big Sister Association, yesterday agreed and approved of the views of Miss Sylvia Haber, chairman of the Women’s Court Committee, who recently deplored “the announced determination of the Mayor to transfer the Brooklyn Women’s Court to the Manhattan Detention House, on the ground that the proper place for a court of this type is in Brooklyn,” and because, “the population of the Detention House is already at its capacity.”
