Hundreds of Jews have been mysteriously expelled from Chanak in the Dardanelles region and from Thrace. The refugees are streaming into Istanbul, penniless and deprived of all their possessions.

While no reason for the sudden expulsion has been given by Turkish authorities, it is believed that the action is connected with the secret erection of new and powerful fortifications in these regions.

The terrible plight of the refugees, added to the secrecy with which the situation is shrouded, has aroused the anxiety of all Turkish Jews.
