Fadden from a position of leadership in the Republican Party.

“Congressman McFadden’s record, more especially in the past year, and his willing association with medieval practices of a libelous character have thoroughly discredited him in the eyes of the intelligent public. His reinstatement in the forefront of the National Republican Committee is incomprehensible at a time when benighted influences are at work in this country and have associated themselves with the barbarous practices imported from abroad.

“It seems to me the #ear duty of organizations and parties aspiring to leadership in American life not only to repudiate such person or persons but to take the leadership in restoring to the forefront of thought and practices our American traditions of democracy and equality.

“I cannot help but think that the invitation accorded to Mr. McFadden to speak in behalf of the National Republican Committee next Tuesday over a national radio hookup is not only an affront to many sections of the population but a detriment to the party itself and I can speak here as one who is by deliberate choice a member of the Republican Party and who has served for many years as the Republican representative in the House of Representatives. I believe the recall of the invitation extended to Congressman McFadden is in order, as a repudiation of any association with the racial philosophy which he expounds.

“My colleagues and I, associated in the leadership of the American Jewish Congress, will look forward with the deepest interest to your reply.”
