Temple Observes 60th Anniversary

Rabbi Samuel H. Goldenson, president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, and Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, president of the Jewish Institute of Religion, respectively, will preach the reconsecration sermons at Temple Sharey Tefilo here on the next two Friday evenings in honor of the sixtieth anniversary of the congregation.

For this Friday evening invitations also have been extended to Dr. Frank Kingdon, president of Dana College; the Rev. H. E. Nicely, president of the Minister’s Association of the Oranges and Maplewood; and Rabbi Solomon Foster of Newark.

Rabbi Marius Ranson, Sharey Tefilo spiritual head, has been in charge of preparations for the services. He has been assisted by a committee consisting of Henry Kanegsberg, Maurice Pereles, Judge Louis R. Freund, Charles Grubstein, Clarence C. Nathan, Frederick H. Samuels, Oscar A. Schwabe, Alfred H. Brundage and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Turesky.

This Saturday evening there will be a banquet at the Progress Club of Newark in honor of the congregation founders, only one of whom survives, Jacob Harris of Montclair. The banquet will be followed by a ball, with Frederick H. Samuels as chairman. Mrs. Oscar A. Schwabe is chairman of banquet arrangements.
