1st Reich Families Settle Ort Land

The first German Jewish families are now settled in the ORT agricultural cooperative colony in Southwestern France, near the city of Villeneuve, the American office of the People’s ORT Federation announced Friday. The colony, which will engage in fine gardening and horticulture as well as general farming, is planned to accommodate from 250 to 300 German Jewish families.

The French ORT Parliamenary Committee, headed by Edouard Herriot, has aided in obtaining necessary governmental permission and licenses for the undertaking. The local authorities have been very helpful, ORT officials state.
