The Jewish Daily Forward of New York, in an editorial about the forthcoming trial in Manitoba, hopes that other countries will follow Manitoba and will introduce laws enabling individual Jews to fight for the honor of the entire Jewish nation:

The trial in Manitoba was granted on the basis of a law which the Parliament of Manitoba recently adopted, according to which an individual member of a certain race may bring suit in court and ask damages of anyone who libels the whole race.

This is an extraordinary law and is, we believe, the first of its kind and one of the most progressive in history. It is a law which bears upon peoples generally, although Jews will probably have occasion to use it more often than others, and it is to be hoped that other countries will also adopt similar laws of their own.
