What is believed to be the first occasion on which the question of Nazi sympathies was raised at a naturalization hearing arose here when Examiner Walter A. Kiefer asked prospective citizens whether they were in sympathy with the Friends of New Germany.

Of the sixty-five aliens who were seeking American citizenship, twenty-nine were Germans. All denied affiliation or sympathy with the Nazi cause.
