Bernard Shane, general organizer of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union of Canada, became ill today while working at his office here. Removed to a hospital, he was operated on for an abdominal ailment. He will remain in the hospital for at least several weeks.
Shane, a prominent union leader, came to Montreal recently after having been an active organizer in the dress trade in Chicago.
