The Anton Haegele “put-schists” who last week set out to dethrone the Dr. Hubert Schnuch clique from control of the Friends of New Germany, yesterday appeared to have gained their first major victory of the stormy rebellion.
The victory was signalized by the appearance of the Deutscher Beobachter, official “Friends” organ, under the Haegele banner. In screaming black headlines the publication, which appeared on the newsstands Saturday, one day late, announced the rout of the Schnuch forces.
Under the headlines, “The End of a Misrule,” and “Self-Liquidation of Dr. Schnuch, Kappe, Gissibl and Co.,” the Haegele faction sounded a vitriolic denunciation of the late bosses of the Deutscher Beobachter and informed readers that henceforth Anton Haegele was in complete control of both the publication and the New York branch of the “Friends.”

At his home in Queens, Haegele brusquely told a Bulletin reporter that the rebellion had been completely successful and that the New York chapter of the “Friends,” of which he is president, has automatically seceded from the national organization of which Schnuch is the nominal head.
“I feel that Dr. Schnuch is not the man for the movement in this country,” Haegele added.
“In the six months that he has been in power, nothing has been accomplished,” he declared.
Asked what he had expected Dr. Schnuch to accomplish, Haegele said he had looked for a “working condition” which would effectively
