Paris (Dec. 17)
Reasons for the break between the HICEM, central Jewish emigration group, and one of its constituent bodies, the Emigdirect, were made public here today.
Emigdirect, it was stated reliably, demanded the expenditure of money to ascertain all possibilities in the countries to which immigration is still permitted and also demanded certain budgetary changes. When HICEM refused, relations between the two organizations were severed.
HICEM formerly included the American Hebrew Immigrant Aid and Shelter Society, the Jewish Colonization Association and the Emigdirect, all of which are concerned with migration of the Jews.
