A series of grave charges, including misuse of public funds, were made today against the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Ammin Effendi Husseini; Ragheb Bey Nashashibi, former mayor of Jerusalem, and Auni Abdul Hadi Bey, extremist Arab leader, in a signed article in Al Difa, Arab newspaper.

Ibrahim Al Shanti the Arab leader who made the accusations, charged the three Arab notables with having failed to account for large sums of money raised among Indian Moslems for the purpose of building a Moslem university in Jerusalem.

He demanded to know why the university was not being organized; why Ragheb Bey was building a political party for his own purposes; and why Auni, most active anti-Jewish agitator in Palestine, had suddenly ceased all activity.

Early in 1934 the Grand Mufti made an extensive tour of Moslem centers in India for the avowed purpose of raising enough money to build a Moslem university and in order to secure backing for his fight against the Jews.
