A tragic story was revealed here with the announcement that M, Rabinowitz, young orthodox Jew, had been committed to an insane asylum. Rabinowitz was one of a number of young orthodox Jews who had taken a lengthy course in agriculture to prepare him for settlement in Palestine. More than 500 young men had finished the course and were awaiting visas for Palestine, when it became known that the Jewish Agency for Palestine had assigned only ninety certificates for the whole group.
Lots were cast and ninety chosen in that fashion. Rabinowitz was not among the fortunate ones. He became melancholy and subjects to moods of black depression. He was seized with a violent attack at the Agudath Israel headquarters and officials of the group had him removed to a hospital. There he was pronounced hopelessly insane.
