The pilgrimage will open on January 27 at the University of North Carolina. Thereafter the “Tolerance Trio” will visit Winston-Salem, N. C.; Jacksonville, Palm Beach and Rollins College, in Florida; Montgomery, Birmingham and the University of Alabama; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Roanoke, Va.

The tour will be modelled on a more extensive one which enjoyed unusual success in the Fall and early Winter of 1933, when Rabbi Lazaron, Dr. Clinchy and Father John Elliot Ross visited thirty-five cities from coast to coast, travelling nearly 9,000 miles.

Besides arranging seminars and conferences, the three clergymen will be available as speakers before high schools, colleges where they are not already slated to appear, service clubs and women’s groups.

EMPHASIS ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

At the various meetings emphasis will be upon the fundamental American principle of religious freedom. Among the topics to be discussed will be: “Making America Safe for Differences;” “The Relation of the Social Ideals and Programs of Religious Groups to National Welfare;” and “What are the Most Practical Steps and Methods for Furthering Mutual Understanding and Civic Cooperation between Religious Groups?”

Rabbi Lazaron has been a prominent participant in efforts to establish better understanding between Jew and Christian. In Baltimore, where he is spiritual leader of the Hebrew Congregation, he was instrumental in organizing the Baltimore Federation of Church and Synagogue Youth, the first group of its kind in the country.
