Eighty-nine delegates to the Laborite convention in Hedera voted against ratifying the peace agreement with Jabotinsky. Seventy-four voted for the ratification. The final decision depends now upon the votes of the twenty-two members of the Executive. The agreement is expected to be ratified by a narrow majority.

A sharp division of opinion as to whether the Laborites in Palestine should ratify the peace agreements signed by Ben-Gurion and Jabotinsky in London was seen today when the results of elections to a special Laborite convention in Hedera were made public.

The convention in Hedera, called to ratify the agreement Jabotinsky, opened last night. A majority of the delegates are Laborites who are definitely opposed to entering any agreements with Jabotinsky.

VOTE ON TWO SLATES

Delegates to the Hedera conference were elected throughout the country on two slates. One contained the names of delegates who favored ratification of the London agreements between Ben-Gurion and Jabotinsky. The second listed those who opposed ratification.

In Jerusalem the list favoring ratification received a majority of two votes. In Tel Aviv, however, 600 voted in favor of the agreement, and 800 for the list opposing it. In Haifa 200 voted for the agreement and 800 against it.

All the Laborite leaders, including Ben-Gurion- and Shertok, left for Hedera today in an effort to influence the convention so that the plebiscite, which is to take place next Sunday, will approve of the Ben-Gurion – Jabotinsky pact.

The convention in Hedera will also deal with a number of questions other than the ratification of the peace agreement. The change in the text of the printed Shekel is one of the questions which will come up at the convention today. The delegates will also consider proposals which the Laborites will submit to the next session of the Actions Committee which opens here March 27.
