The work of the Jewish Consumptive Relief Society and its achievements were described by a number of speakers at the second session yesterday of the thirty-first annual convention of the Society at the Astor Hotel here. The convention will conclude on Tuesday.
A detailed report of the various activities was delivered by Dr. Louis I. Miller. Dr. Miller stated that 7,057 patients have been admitted to the sanatorium at Spivak, Col., since 1904. Among the patients were people of prominence who were not in a position to obtain treatment anywhere else because they could not afford to pay. The treatment given at the sanatorium is entirely free, and only poor consumptives are admitted.
Among the speakers yesterday were Mrs. Mark Harris, president of the New York Ladies Auxiliary of the J. C. R. S., who was chairman of the morning session; B. C. Vladeck, Dr. Philip Hillkowitz, Harry Wander and Abraham Miller.
In the evening the society held its sixth annual banquet, attended by about 1,000 guests at the Hotel Astor.
