A quota of $10,000 is the goal of the large group of Jewish workers, who this week began the canvassing of Worcester and Worcester County, on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal, which represents the Joint Distribution Committee and the American Palestine Campaign in a nation-wide effort to obtain $3,250,000 for the relief and rehabilitation of Jews of Germany and other lands and for the settlement of Jews in Palestine.

Joseph Goldberg is general chairman of the campaign committee and Mrs. Israel Chafitz is chairman of the women’s division. Morris Long is chairman of the campaign committee for the towns of the entire county.

During the Passover holidays effort will be concentrated on obtaining contributions from worshipers in the synagogues. Every synagogue in the city will be visited on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal.

Jan Czynski, born of Jewish parents and himself a zealous defender of the Jews, served as chief of staff to General Szczeptycki in the Polish revolt of 1830.
