Six editors of Fascist newspapers went on trial here Saturday on charges of anti-Semitic defamation after a long investigation by Minister of Justice Steincke.
The trial is considered a test case for the Government, which is seeking powers to prohibit further Fascist propaganda against the Jews. The indictments are based on the paragraph of the penal code prohibiting public defamation or insult to any recognized religious community in Denmark.
The Fascist papers, some of which are distributed free, had been conducting a vehement campaign against the Jews. They had published personal attacks on several well-known Jews, including Chief Rabbi Friediger.
