Sir Eric Phipps, British Ambassador to Germany, has been instructed to tell Reich foreign officials that Britain “cannot accept” implications its policy was responsible for hardships endured by the German people, informed sources here said today, according to the Havas News Agency.
The implications were contained in recent speeches by Gen. Hermann Wilhelm Goering, Reich Economics Chief, and Propaganda Minister Paul Joseph Goebbels.
Sir Eric went to the Wilhelmstrasse today, reportedly to make friendly representations to foreign officials concerning the speeches.
