Declaring emigration to be Poland’s “central problem,” Foreign Minister Josef Beck today opened a debate on the subject in Parliament.
A majority of the speakers asserted that emigration was the only solution to the Jewish problem and demanded the Government take the initiative in regulating Jewish emigration, even to the extent of forcing Jews to emigrate.
Demands were also voiced for the ousting of Jews from the Polish export trade and the diplomatic service. Col. Beck pointed out that Jews constituted only 1.9 per cent of the total diplomatic corps. It was learned here in that connection that only thirteen Jews, including converts, serve in the diplomatic corps and these occupy minor positions.
