THE PROPOSED PARTITION OF PALESTINE, IT WAS LEARNED TODAY, WAS AMONG THE SUBJECTS DISCUSSED YESTERDAY AT THE CONFERENCE OF PREMIER MILAN STOYADINOVICH OF YUGOSLAVIA, FOREIGN MINISTER KAMIL KROFTA OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA AND FOREIGN MINISTER VICTOR ANTONESCU OF RUMANIA.

MR. ANTONESCU’S REPORT TO THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS, IT WAS UNDERSTOOD, CONSIDERS THAT OUTRIGHT PARTITION WOULD AGGRAVATE ANTAGONISM BETWEEN ARABS AND JEWS AND THAT THE TIME IS NOT RIPE FOR IT. HE SUGGESTS ESTABLISHMENT OF ARAB AND JEWISH STATES UNDER SEPARATE BRITISH MANDATES. THIS IS ONE OF THE TWO ALTERNATIVE “APPRENTICESHIP” PLANS SUGGESTED BY THE MANDATES COMMISSION.
