The Archbishop of Canterbury, head of the Anglican Church, said today he was taking close interest in the question of the Rumanian Jews and would “take action whenever a suitable opportunity again occurs.” He received H.A. Goodman, political secretary of the orthodox Agudath Israel, and revealed that he had made personal and other inquiries of the Rumanian authorities regarding treatment of the Jews.

Mr. Goodman, together with Jacob Rosenheim, president of the Agudah, was also received by Palestine High Commissioner-Designate Sir Harold A. MacMichael at the Colonial Office, discussing the present Palestine situation and the Agudah’s attitude on various problems. Sir Harold promised sympathetic consideration after his arrival in Palestine.
