The Government office for supervision of Jewish cultural activities has been separated from the Reichs Cultural Chamber and established as an independent department in the Propaganda Ministry, according to an official announcement.

Hans Hinkel, who was the Nazi Commissioner for Supervision of Jewish Cultural Affairs, is retiring from his post as manager of the Cultural Chamber and will devote his future activity exclusively to the “ghetto” department.

The reorganization shows that the German authorities are apparently anxious to avoid the impression that Jewish cultural activities are connected with general cultural affairs. Herr Hinkel’s role is of a police rather than a cultural character.
