Czech Writers, B’nai B’rith Ask Schwartz Clemency

The Union of Czechoslovak Writers appealed today to High Commissioner MacMichael for clemency in the case of Mordechai Schwartz, Palestine constable sentenced to die on the gallows Aug. 16 for the murder of an Arab policeman. Schwartz was born in Czechoslovakia. A similar appeal has been dispatched by Miss Alice Masaryk, daughter of the late president.
