3 Jews, 2 Arabs Killed in Continuing Disorders

Two Jewish supernumeraries, a Jewish merchant and two Arabs were killed today in continuing disorders in various parts of Palestine.

Three Arabs drove up to an automobile accessories shop in Tiberias, entered and fired revolvers at a group of clerks and customers. Jacob Eliahu Mizrachi, owner of the shop, was killed instantly. Two salesmen, M. Weinberg and David Elisha, 70, were wounded. An Arab customer was also struck and injured by a bullet. The assailants were caught by a pursuing police car near Dagania.

An Arab band ambushed two mounted supernumeraries patrolling the boundaries of Rishon-le-Zion, second oldest Jewish colony in the Holy Land, Abraham Aryeh, 25, a native of the colony, was killed and his companion, Samuel Weintraub, was wounded. Snipers shot and killed Yochanan Ritler, 28-year-old Rumanian immigrant, as he was guarding the groves of Pardess Hanna, south of Haifa. His companion, Moshe Goldstein, 19, replied to the attack, killing one Arab, wounding a second and stabbing a third who tried to snatch his rifle.

An Arab, reportedly an informer, was shot and killed in the Old City quarter of Jerusalem. Another Arab, formerly a supernumerary policeman, was shot and dangerously wounded in the same section. An Arab chieftain was killed and two other Arabs were wounded by shots fired by Arab terrorists into a vegetable market in Haifa. A 15-year-old Jew, Shlomo Zucker, was wounded by Arab snipers in the Jaffa-Tel Aviv boundary area.

In accordance with demands of the Tel Aviv municipal authorities, the building of a barbed wire fence to separate the all-Jewish city from Arab Jaffa at strife-bound border parts was begun this morning. The workers were continuously attacked by Arabs wielding guns and bombs, but none was hit.

Yechiel Weizmann, brother of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist Organization, his son and a friend were gravely injured when their automobile skidded and capsized after a blowout on the Haifa-Tel Aviv highway. The Tire reportedly was punctured by bullets fired by a terrorist Hidden near the roadway.

Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog and Rabbi Meir Berlin, Mizrachi (religious Zionist) leader, are flying to London tomorrow to testify before the Partition Commission.
