Moslem students disregarded police precaution yesterday and held a stormy congress at University Hall, called to demonstrate their sympathy for the Arab rebellion in Palestine. The congress adopted a resolution protesting British policy in Palestine, Zionism and the attitude of the United States, supporting the “just claims” of the Palestine Arabs and demanding that Egyptian Jews take an anti-Zionist stand.

Indian, Egyptian, Iraqian and Yemenite student speakers urged collection of funds for the rebels. Their speeches were punctuated by cries of “Down with Britain, enemy of the Arabs!”

At the same time Jewish university students issued a manifesto declaring that Jews were entitled to life and liberty and asking that the colonial powers find new territory that is uncultivated and uninhabited to settle the Jewish problem. The manifesto recognized the Palestine Arabs’ right to independence and protested ill-treatment of Jews.
