Creation of a “buffer State” of Jews in the Transjordan to save the Suez Canal “for civilization” in the event the “Nordic monster” should try to seize it was urged upon the British Government last night by Commander Oliver Locker-Lampson, Conservative M.P., in an address at Manchester. Commander Locker-Lampson counselled the Government not to send the refugees from Germany to ” inaccessible ends of the earth, “but to concentrate them in Palestine and open the Transjordan, which he said was capable of accommodating 100,000 families.
