One woman was dead and scores of persons were injured in a blaze of undetermined origin which swept through the township of Silal, razing a synagogue and 48 houses in the Jewish quarter. Police were forced to intervene yesterday to restore order in the township of Paschelunia where anti-Jewish excesses broke out over a rumor that Jews were guilty of the death of a farmer, who actually had been shot by police.
