NEW YORK (Dec. 26)
Secretary of Interior Harold L. Ickes and Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace have sent congratulatory messages to the American Jewish Congress, praising its contributions to democracy and American life, on the occasion of the organization’s 21st anniversary, which will be marked by a dinner in New York on Jan. 14 and a conference in Washington two weeks later.
Senator Claude Pepper has accepted an invitation to speak at the Jan. 14 dinner, which will be held at the Hotel Astor. Two European leaders of the World Jewish Congress, Dr. Nahum Goldmann of Geneva and the Rev. Maurice L. Perlzweig of London, are coming here and will address the dinner. The affair is being arranged by a committee of 184, with Maurice Levin and Mrs. Bernard S. Deutsch as co-chairmen.
