The citizenship law was radically altered today to grant citizenship to all who resided in Lithuanian territory, including the Wilno region, on Sept. 1, 1939. Under the former law almost half of the population of Wilno, formerly Polish area ceded to Lithuania by Russia after the partition of Poland, was deprived of citizenship.

Solomon Gavenda, a labor leader, was named Vice-Mayor of Wilno today.
