Rep. Jacob Thorkelson, rabidly anti-Semitic Congressman, was trailing in the Montana Republican primaries behind Jeanette Rankin, former Congresswoman, who ran on a peace plank. Incomplete figures received on Capitol Hill gave Thorkelson approximately 2,400 votes to 2,500 for Rankin on the basis of 145 precincts.
