Cabinet Committee Probes Effect of Jewish Deportations Upon Rumania’s Economy

The committee appointed by the Rumanian Cabinet to investigate the effects of the Jewish deportations and the anti-Jewish laws upon the country’s economic development began work today, the Bucharest radio announced.

The committee is composed of leading members of the Cabinet, including the Ministers for Interior, Labor, Rumanization and the Under-Secretary of the Navy, as well as representatives of the General Staff and of the government of Transnistria, the announcement stated. It failed to mention that the committee was formed as a result of internal dissension in the Cabinet with regard to the further ousting of Jews from commercial life and in view of the protests by many Rumanians against the merciless expulsion of tens of thousands of Jews to Transnistria.
