Soviet Government Grants Subsidy to Jewish Theater; Decorates Polish Jews

The government of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic has allotted a subsidy of 750,000 roubles to the Kiev Jewish State Theatre, which for the past year has been functioning in the city of Jambul in the Asiatic republic of Kazakstan, it was reported today by the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee here. The Kiev theater has gained great popularity in Jambul, playing to Russian and Kasakh audiences as well as to Jews.

The Committee also revealed today that many of the thousands of Jewish refugees from Poland who are now working in all fields of Soviet agriculture and industry have been decorated and cited for their efforts. It also reported that hundreds of Jewish youths, who were denied higher education in Poland, are now studying in leading Soviet universities, under government grants.
