The Joint Foreign Committee of the Board of Deputies of British Jews has contacted the Algiers Jewish community in an attempt to ascertain the exact status of Algerian Jews as a result of the abrogation of the Cremieux decree by General Giraud, it was learned here today.
The Committee, it is also learned, has made representations to the proper quarters concerning the fact that no public announcement of the revocation of the anti-Jewish laws in Tripoli and other former Italian territories has been made, although, in practice, these laws have not been observed from the first day of the British occupation.
