Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson has promised “a careful inquiry” into the case of Maj. Michael Grazynski, a Polish official with a long anti-Jewish record, who is enrolled in the Army’s School of Military Government at Charlottesville, Va.

Stimson’s pledge was made to Rep. Emanuel Celler, New York Democrat, who asked for an investigation following disclosure of Grazynski’s presence at Charlottesville. The promise was contained in a letter from Stimson to Celler, which said:

“I have your letter of June 16th concerning Major Michael Grazynski, now enrolled at the School of Military Government, Charlottesville, Virginia, and assure you that a careful inquiry will be made into the allegations contained in your letter.”
