Jewish throngs in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa continued to crowd the streets today in tense expectation of further news of the invasion front. Extra editions of newspapers were sold out as soon as they appeared.

American soldiers visiting Tel Aviv were especially excited over the progress of the invasion and expressed their joy by offering free drinks of beer to any civilian who was willing to accept them. The synagogues throughout the country were crowded all day long with Jews praying for the invading Allied armies and for Roosevelt and Churchill and the military leaders of the Anglo-American forces.
