A denial that the New Zionist Organization has had by connection with the Irgun Zvai Leumi, Palestine terrorist group, since 1940 was made here today by Abraham Abrahams, an NZO leader. Mr. Abrahams’ statement was issued in reply to an allegation by Colonial Minister Col. Oliver Stanley that the gun was the military arm of the NZO.
The background of the disturbances in Palestine, Mr. Abrahams said, was the step dissatisfaction of the entire Jewish community with the Palestine Administration, particularly the police, some of whom, he said, are believed to be connected with British fascist organizations. As a result, Jewish youth of all parties have lost faith in political action, he asserted. This hostility to the British, the NZO leader continued, could easily be overcome through a generous gesture by the Government.
(A similar denial of NZO connection with the Irgun was made in Jerusalem yesterday by Dr. Nathan Altman, a leader of the NZO there. Protesting Col. Stanley’s charge, Dr. Altman said that his organization had issued several statements denouncing the terror.)
