A press report that the War Refugee Board will go out of existence on January 22 was emphatically denied here today by John W. Pehle, executive secretary of the Board, in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Mr. Pehle declared that he has never stated that the War Refugee Board would be liquidated on January 22, or any other date. At the same time, he expressed fear that about 200,000 Jews may be exterminated in Hungary during the next few weeks as a result of the establishment there of the pro-Nazi extremist Szalasi regime.
