The 100th birthday of Sarah Bernhardt, famous French-Jewish actress, was observed here by a special broadcast over the French radio and the placing of flowers on her grave.

During the occupation of Paris, the Nazis removed her name from the theatre named after her. They also expunged all reference to her from histories of the French stage.
