The annual campaign of the New York Federation of Jewish Philanthropies was launched today by 8,000 volunteer workers. No definite financial goal has been set for the campaign, but Samuel S. Schneirson, chairman of the drive, express the hope that it will top all previous years because of the need for raising funds for current needs and preparations for post-war problems.
“The time for post-war preparedness is now,” Mr. Schneierson said, “and not when the problems of families, war workers, youth delinquency and returning veterans will be upon us in flood tide.” Each agency, he said, has set up its own post-war plan and the federation will undertake to pave the way financially for setting them into motion. These will include a wide variety of services, such as family welfare, juvenile aid and rehabilitation and employment for service men.
