Rep. Andrew L. Somers, New York Democrat, speaking in the House today called for recognition of the Jewish people as a member of the United Nations and demanded representation for it at the San Francisco Conference.

He declared it an injustice that Palestine’s Near Eastern neighbors; Egypt, Saudi-Arabia and Iraq, will be represented but that “the ration that has suffered nearly as many casualties as all the others combined, the nation whose sons have valiantly fought and died on all the fighting fronts, that nation will not be given the same consideration and privilege we have given even to the nations who have been neutral even up to yesterday.”
